Materialização das relações de parentesco na Mongólia

Este artigo tem por objetivo estudar a relação entre os vínculos de parentesco e as formas de cultura material na Mongólia. Sugiro que as práticas envolvidas na liberação, na captura e na retenção de “fortunas” (hishig) constituem a base para compreender as relações de parentesco na Mongólia. Essas práticas alcançam uma espécie de “tecnologia estética” que reflete teorias locais de reprodução, constituindo a base para diversos tipos de relações sociais e interações. Grande parte da argumentação consta do meu último livro, Harnessing Fortune (Empson 2011), cujo título poderia ser traduzido em português como “Capturando a fortuna”.
